These ingredients, or raw materials, can be subdivided into the following main categories: polymers, fillers, plasticisers, accelerators, crosslinking agents and many other special products. Only the right composition and a perfect mixing process result into optimum properties of the final product.<\/p><p>The rubber and plastic polymers used in HEXPOL interact with the environment in a number of ways. A certain amount of impact occurs at our units, while other impacts occur during production of raw materials, transports and disposal of the waste that occurs in various places. The environmental impact \u2013 in a life-cycle perspective \u2013 of polymers is shortly\u00a0described below.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-581badd elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"581badd\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-03d5b31\" data-id=\"03d5b31\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-355138d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"355138d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Synthetic rubber<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6aef08b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6aef08b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>About 60 percent of world production of synthetic rubber is used for tire manufacture. HEXPOL\u2019s rubber product portfolio contains around 84 percent synthetic rubber, the remainder being natural rubber. Synthetic rubber is a product of the petroleum industry and our experience is spread over a large number of polymer types, for example, EPDM, SBR and NBR.<\/p><p>The environmental impact from the production and use of synthetic rubber derives primarily from energy consumption, use of fossil raw materials, emissions to air and water, and waste products. The positive environmental aspects of synthetic rubber is, for example, associated with products that contribute to energy saving and reduction of noise and vibration.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-fed812f elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"fed812f\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-dcebd99\" data-id=\"dcebd99\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5b05eaf elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"5b05eaf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Natural rubber<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-655419c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"655419c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The rubber tree Hevea brasiliensis requires a tropical climate. Today, more than 90 percent of all natural rubber comes from South-east Asia, although there are also plantations in South America and Africa. Nearly 70 percent of natural rubber production is used in the tire industry.<\/p><p>An overview of the production process for natural rubber shows that the environmental impact are associated with clearing of forest, the use of energy, chemicals, nutrients and biocides, and from emissions to water. One thing that TPEs materials have in common is that they are completely recyclable. TPEs can also be combined with natural materials, for example, cork.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-fbda637 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"fbda637\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-855be29\" data-id=\"855be29\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2817a0a elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2817a0a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Thermoplastics<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6e37bd8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6e37bd8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>A thermoplastic is a plastic material that can be repeatedly softened by heating and hardened by cooling. Examples of thermoplastics include polythene (polyethylene), polypropylene and polyamide nylon. Thermoplastics are fully recyclable and in ideal situations thermoplastics can be repeatedly melted and remoulded into new products.<\/p><p>Conventional thermoplastics are produced from fossil petroleum products and the main environmental aspects are the use of non-renewable raw materials, emissions of climate-changing gases and generation of waste. In recent years composite materials have been obtained from the combination of recycled thermoplastics and biodegradable waste of little economic value, for example, rice husks and recycled cotton.
